Trolley Team was formed fourteen years ago by Dairy UK under the name Dairy UK Roll Container Repatriation Scheme.

Trolley Team

Since the scheme’s creation, over £75 million worth of assets have been returned to members.

The majority of dairy companies in the UK who transport milk in milk roll containers (trolleys) are members of the scheme. These members work proactively together to reduce the misuse of milk trolleys throughout the industry and to trade ethically. In 2009 it was agreed to increase the size of the team to increase activities with a full time Team Manager and an additional investigator added. This has resulted in reduced trolley misuse and an increase in members from 11 to 25.

Activities include:

  • Inspections at member and non-member processing sites, distribution depots, bottle milk buyers, airports, exhibition centres, shopping centres and metal recycling centres;
  • Repatriation of trolleys to members and action through the courts to reduce misuse.

The Team covers 140,000 miles counting 315,000 trolleys each year.

Milk trolleys that go out of the owners’ delivery networks are repatriated to their owners by Trolley Teams' haulier Trolleywise, who have a network of over 40 vehicles collecting and delivering milk trolleys on a daily basis.

The team is supported centrally through the Dairy UK office in London. More information is available at www.trolleyteam.co.uk.
